This is an interesting tale.
I started this game around the time when I first started playing Chess. I wasn't sure what I was doing, I read a few defenses, etc. I definently did not have the experience. To be honest, I was almost stuck on this game.
Well, my opponent went on Vacation. During that time, I have played a few games, read a ton of articles, read through some books I purchased, etc. When he came off vacation, I noticed it was my turn. He had just moved: 17. Re1
I immediately saw a hole. And I saw exactly how I could try to capitalize on it and get there. The following annotations in my game starting with move 17 will explain my train of thought, hopefully I was heading in the right direction.
Thanks Chess.com :)
Just some thoughts. 7. Qa4? thought you should comment on why is a queen moving so early got white into trouble already, a pin with the queen whats the pt. just gave blk a tempo 8...e5 gains another tempo. Common to miss the fork. 9.Qxb7? white needs to develop not chase material. Develop. 9... Rb8 another tempo thanks white. 10... Nb4 looks interesting. you will be up a piece for 2 pawns soon. I will take blk. More space ahead in development. pry open white. 11...dxe4 gets another tempo. 16...why move the knight. Find a better move or idea. 17. h3 seems to be a waste of time and more wasted moves. 17... Rf-d8 would be good too. Maybe 20...Qe5. 21. White has g3, or Qf4 to stay alive.
Before move 17, I have no idea why I did anything :) It was awhile back and this was one of my first chess games I started lol.
