Today is a warm and sunny day so I decided to try something new in a chess game I played online today. The Petrov's Defence, simply known as the Russian Game, is a symmetrical opening line highlighted by the following moves: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nf6.
I've never really played this line much because of the attacking opportunities that arise on both sides. In simpler words, I don't like giving up my king's pawn - e4 or e5 too quickly!
Nonetheless, I decided to put some variety in my chess today. Here is an amusing game that came up which teaches a simple lesson - watch your back rank when rooks are dominating the chessboard! I played with the Black pieces.
Nice.
