Why philidors defense sucks.

    Very nice for a 15 minute game. I really think that players below 1700 should really stay away from the Philidor Defence unless they are willing to put in some time to learn the theory. I honestly believe that it is sound, but really requires some positional understanding or Black can become very passive, very fast. I believe my life time score against it since becoming serious about chess is 100%.

    There's a difference between the opening sucking and the player sucking. But, sicilian is better anyway :O

    Thats just one of the safest openings around played by serious players everywere in the world!

    Look at your position move 5 your opponent starts going away from general chess rules moving the Q before every minor piece is developed...

    Other then that just focusing the opening, the downside is it is passive, the upper side is that black as no real weakness and can castle quite fast, to be honest I never went into the philidor because I dislike it :) I see it as a passive opening but then again I suck! so many world class players play it, that would be like claiming ruy lopez suks Tongue out
