#1s of chess.com

There was once tigerpetrosian, then somebody else, then pelger. There were the former #1 of chess.com. They had something in common, not being a paying member. So after a while sitting in the top, they were accused of cheating and kicked out of the site. I got that we can't stand a good player to be number one if they are not a premium member.

So following this logic, I think our current #1, Nostradamus70, must have limited time before kicked out of the site.

That's because they were found to be using engines. I wouldn't be surprised if this thread gets locked

I clicked on the link to Nostradamus's home page and I wound up at the forum home.

That's because it isn't a proper link, he does actually still exist...

    I thought he was reported.

It has nothing to do with whether they are paying members are not. All persons caught cheating will be banned from this site.

So name one premium #1 who was caught cheating and banned from the site. All the #1s happened to be non-paying members. I'm just saying it's kinda interesting.

I meant when you said,  "It has nothing to do with whether they are paying members or not."

Maybe it has to do with the fact that premium members don't cheat, at least not on their premium account.

If we did, it would be a waste of money.  Why pay $100 just to cheat and get my account banned?  That would be a loss of money...

Actually, G-Money7, some premium members DO cheat. And they get banned, just like non-paying members. All animals are equal.

If they did cheat, yes, they would be banned.

I haven't seen any examples, though.  It's really stupid to cheat on your paying account, since you'd lose so many features.

Several cheaters caught got gold to cover up...

Okay, I didn't know that.  Thanks for the information!

I think it doesn't matter paying member or not, all kinds of cheating is stupid. Then again I've come up with some premium members who I was sure they were cheating. But this is another thread (I'd really love to know the number of banned paying members though)

The thread was about the number 1s.

Plenty of diamond members on that list!

Only considering 'number one's' is too small a catagory to draw any meaningful conclusions from.

Cheating in chess is an issue that Chess.com takes seriously. That said, it has minimal impact on the site and shouldn't be a concern for 99.9% of players. Unfortunately, there is much more paranoia about the topic than it actually deserves. Also, having several constant and redundant threads on the topic that circulate with the same questions and comments over and over again isn't helpful, and instead causes people to worry more than they need to. We have posted FAQs below that should address all questions on the topic. We have posted the Chess.com FAQs and policies here:

Thanks for helping keep Chess.com safe and friendly!
