A while ago, an article was released on the main page talking about how people learn things which are incorrect even though the correct line has already been discovered. It talked about the 2 knights opening and the Nxf7? sacrifice. I was hoping to find it again, but I am having trouble. Anyone out there wanna help me out?

You may mean, as Shadowkinight assumed, the "Fried Liver" which somehow is very popular, and surely worse than Lolli's attack (6.d4! instead of 6.Nxf7).
