I love the 3D pieces. At first I thought they were kind of small so I enlarged my board and think it's great.
Also, it's less of a shock moving to live OTB games now with the new 3D pieces. I had a terrible time making the transition before.
The transition is definately easier! I love them, but can apprechiate the request for an option to change the view to 2-D if the viewer is (for whatever reason) having problems and preferes 2-D (this referes to posts where the OP has chosen 3-D).
