Which do you find more beautiful and satisfying?

    (1) A well played positional/strategic game of a great master.

    or

    (2) A well played tactical/attacking game of a great master.

I can appreciate a good strategic game but the Karpov style lacks the courageous swagger of a tactical game and for that reason it will never be as entertaining.

I'm just the opposite, I prefer a more subtle game wherein the winner triumphs by making natural moves and seemingly not trying very hard. Laughing

For sure to tell someone he plays like Tal is the more unequivocal compliment, but I guess I'm a rare bird for someone at my skill level in that I enjoy playing through a well annotated positional masterpiece as well, or better, than playing through a bold attacking one.

I'd rather construct a game where at the end of a sequence of 20 moves the opponent sees he's facing what he'd rather not, like a very inferior endgame.

I like when small tactical moves in the late opening/early middlegame lead to crushing attacks later on. Something small and seemingly minor that can later lead to your opponent crying in the corner.
