I think I have an addiction to this website, I am on way too often and I find myself choosing it over school work, yet I do fine no worries. I think this is more addictive for me then World of Warcraft was years ago. Can anyone help? Maybe Erik could add a time-out feature where you can set the number of hours per week and when it gets exceeded your account blocks you out, until the week is up, pausing your games using your vaction time.

Don't worry chessbee, your problem will be cured when finals and AP tests kick in.... so you're going have to deal with this addiction for a bit...

First we'll need a 12 step program.

My name is zlhflans, I'm a chessaddict.

Admitting your powerless is the first step.

you're behind guys!  I'm in rehab already!   They give you chinese checkers, poker, balck jack... you name it!  in the end, NOTHING works!

This is not like drugs or alcohol that you just do a treatment & are off the hook, NO!  this chess addiction, is MUCH more than that!!!

step 2: you come to believe that a power greater than your self can restore you to sanity.

Try to move from Chess to connect four, and from that to tic tac toe.  Ween yourself off the elusive forced win.

Many say that escapism can help cope with stress, but if we find ourselves neglecting everyday duties and responsibilities, then it's time to choose those everyday duties and responsibilities as as forms of escapism!

Much easier said than done, because I AM ADDICTED TO CHESS!! I want more chess responsibilities so I'll never neglect them! Laughing
