Clearly it would have to be on an hono(u)r system were you trust your opponent - unless you want to involve webcams.

But a glass of wine every 5 moves...

Have to try this some time. Would be best OTB. I prefer a mouthful every move

OTB is clearly the best. But we have to be practical here.

(By the way, I'd also like to see Alcohol F1 where the drivers stop every 5 laps for a pint - but that's probably a different thread...)

The chess or the F1?

I feel I am being preyed upon by non-drinkers on chess.com. However, I also feel wildlife is out to get me, so perhaps I should cut down a bit...

Theres been a chess set at a local shop for a long time..... its a shotglass chess set.  I suppose every piece you take you have to drink that shot.....

Would be interesting.

A mate of mine and myself often after a couple of drinks play OTB 1 min chess..... very interesting .... lol

I've seen those shotglass sets. But I always thought they were for hardcase Russians ;-) I'd prefer pint or (if I'm being sensible) half-pint glasses. Perhaps each piece could contain beer of differing strength to correspond to that piece's chess value?

Define "glass". Should it be poured as the wineries do, so you get something like eighteen glasses from a bottle, or should one fill the glass--two and one-half per bottle?

The wineries are money-making ventures. My house is not. Therefore I'm with the second option.

Beer and chess don't go together.  But it is fun!  A friend and I would demolish a case over the course of a game or two from time to time.

Oh, they do go together. Not in a the-best-chess-I've-ever-played sort of way. But sometimes in the best-fun-I've-had-playing-chess sort of way...

Especially with friends. And sometimes with new friends.

That was indeed a theory. Instead of straightforward pit stops, I'd also like to see F1 drivers queue up to pay for their fuel, maybe handing over vouchers for glasses on the way and waiting behind little old ladies paying their bills in tiny, tiny coppers...

And when the mechanics come out, they should all look at the car, suck their teeth and tell the driver it won't be ready for a month.

I occasionally play drunk - and twice that has led to an improvement in my rating!

The best/worst thing about playing while drunk is looking at your games in the morning...

I saw that chess set before too. It's an awesome idea. If you get too trigger-happy on your captures, you're gonna get smashed pretty soon (both on the chessboard and in your head...)
