I've edited my profile to get alerts when it is my move - for a while I was getting them and then they stopped - I've tried re-editing with no luck - any ideas out there?

Paul

My ISP is road-runner - & I was getting alerts before - I will check my approved addresses and see if something is amiss there - thanks

I have had a similar problem for a while, but didn't say anything about it, as it did not bother me that much.

In my case, I use my aol e-mail address to recieve e-mail alerts.  I get e-mail alerts when a tournament has started and when I am running out of time to move; but I don't get e-mail alerts when it is my turn to move, or when a game has begun or ended.  I used to get those kinds of e-mail alerts before, also; but, for whatever reason, they stopped about a two or three months ago.  I unchecked and rechecked the settings to get alerts, but that did not make a difference.  After a while, I just let it go.

So, as of now, I still just get e-mail alerts when a tournament has started, or when I am running out of time.  I still do not get e-mail alerts about when it is my turn to move, or when a game has started or ended.

(I do get the alerts for everything on the yellow column or the right side of the window; I just don't the the e-mail alerts, as described above.)

I check the website every few hours, anyway; so like I said, it is not that big of a problem for me.  Even so, I hope the problem gets fixed for those who rely on it.

Take care,

George

Well apparently it may be a "system" glitch and not me - I have a friend who was having trouble when he first joined - I just thought he didn't have his settings right but I guess there is more to it then that.

I've learned to live without it - actually I made chess.com my home page so it's a little easier to check on a regular basis.

When I first started playing, emails were not being sent.  Then, I believe in my second or third match, I started receiving emails every time it was my move.  That's too much email for me since I was checking myself on the site, so I disabled email alerts.

It sure would be nice to only have the email alerts sent out when there is only 12 hours or so left...strictly as a means of warning.

I usually get the e-mail alerts for running out of time when I have about 8 hours left.  Sometimes, it is 7 or 6; but usually 8.  At any rate, usually plenty of time for me to log in and make a move in time.

Well today (June 28, 2008) just like "magic" I began getting E-mail alerts again for moves - Thanks to whoever worked their magic

Just a thought ref lotsoblots comment - since I only play a few games at a time the alerts are useful - but it might be good to have an option for alets only when short on time (like 12 or 24 hours) -

In any case I am just delighted with this chess site.  I am new to chess and am finding the process of learning how to play very interesting.

Aloha to all
