I have a game going on now. Acording to the "captured pieces" icon I had 19 points captured and my opponent only 14. So my oppoenet lead by 5 points, right?
Wrong. I promte one of my pawns to a queen, so I lead the game. I can calculate and figure out that if my opponent take 5 points more, but I got 8 extra points for my queen (9 minus the pawn how become queen), so I lead by 3 points now. But why make life hard?
So, my offer goes like this: change the icon into "remaining pieces" instead of "captured pieces", and I will be able to know what I have instead of what I do not have ;-)
The icon is based, in my believe, on an emulation of the real world: if you're playing an OTB (over the board) game, the material ON the board you see ON the board, the material off to the side are the CAPTURED pieces. This is the purpose. Duplicating the remaining pieces on the board is redundant. Showing the captured ones provides an alternate and helpful picture of the current material (im)balance.
I agree with DrawMaster. Why would you want to know which pieces you have left? They're right in front of you!!
My point is that I want to know who is leading by points, without calculation, and without counting all the pieces on the board.
