I'm noticing now when I use the analysis board in a game it is allowing illegal moves to be made.  I don't think this was the case before today.  Am I mistaken?

It is the case, you aren't mistaken. Apparently if you don't clear your cache the board acts the old way as does mine.

Erik has added that as a new feature to the analysis board.

correct.  it's an "open" analysis board which means you can do alot of analyzing that in the past you could not try.

Is this going to be fixed?

Did you read freezenyr's comment? This is intentional, or at least so I would assume.

According to the staff, this was by far the most requested change.

Good move. Analysis boards which reveal illegal moves are in fact artificial help.

Never thought about it before but I'll agree with #8.

I'vr just accidently found out about the change, perhaps it could have been better advertised.

I suppose that people wanted to do long term analysis - but in order to zoom ahead in time you have to make illegal moves (e.g. accelerating a Kingside attack by moving the pawns forward 3 squares)

For more discussion about this than normal people can stomach, see this thread
