Nd4+ can be responded by Kb3....
Rxe2 can be responded by Qxe2. The trap for Black queen still persists....
Gelfand coud have tried 17...Nc6. But after 18.dxc6 (only good move) 18...Qxc6 19.Bg2 (perhaps 19.Bd3 Re5 20.Rf1 Qc7 21.Nd5) 19...Qc8 (19...Qd7 20.Nd5 threatening 21.Nf6+ wins), 20.Rf1 looks strong. If 20...Qf5+ 21.Qxf5 gxf5 22.Rxf5 should win for White. Or, instead of 20.Rf1, perhaps 20.Ne4 Rf8 (20...Re7 21.Qf6 Re6 22.Bh3 Qc6 23.Bxe6) 21.Qf6 Qe6 22.h6 Qxf6 23.Nxf6+ Kh8 24.Bxb7 Rab8 25.Bd5 and 26.Re1 and 27.Re7 should win. Or 20.hxg6 hxg6 21.Rf1
After 17...Nc6, not 18.Be2?? Nd4+ 19.Kd3 Rxe2 20.Qxe2 Qxb1 and Black is winning.
Gelfand has woken up the sleeping tiger....he is no more Drawnand now........lets hope he continues with his newly found form!! :ecstatic:
