You may not have high expectations going into an OTB tournament, but as soon as you win a game, that whole equation changes!
--- Thanks for the post Javan64. Good point as success is rather like a drug in a way. Somewhat like those poor folks in Vegas who win a bit of money and then just have to keep on playing ( but are blinded to that big reef up ahead ).
Well we have another item that may fit into this thread of silly items. Someone wants to stop people from making " Stupid Threads ". So I gather that this site will now have to hire a " Thead Judge ". I can see it all now: " cabby you are hereby requested to stop creating any more theads about earthworms ( or mechanical chicken-pluckers, or whatever ) by order of this court !!! ". I'm not too sure about this idea lol.
Cabby has a thread about earthworms?
Cabby has a thread about earthworms?
Thanks for the post Javan64. Well no I was just using that as an example, that type of thread would be rather boring. Mind you the earthworms are useful little creatures what wih all of that digging that they do and then again they are still better off than the poor dung-beetles.
Hey I see that the thread to stop stupid threads is now at over 300 posts total, might it be silly or might it be stupid ( people seem to be having fun with it tho ).
It has been sort of fun to follow.
Thanks for the post Corrijean.
In the area of sillyness we now have a thread on the go here about having a deathbed regret for playing too much Chess. I think that many of us would have larger regrets to consider on that fateful day, a few pleasant hours spent playing Chess would be quite low on the list. Not a major concern for most people.
" You Are A Troll If ... " is a new thread that is on the go here. I'm going to phone CNN, the BBC etc. Real news for you people, there are Trolls on the internet lol.
Well this could get interesting.
Whether it is best to be interesting or not to be ...
I hesitate to mention the name Bobby Fischer in these threads as that very name gets some people very riled up. Yet he was a ordinary human being ( great at Chess tho of course ) just like other humans. He put his pants on one leg at a time and I imagine that when he took a big dump there was a strong odour just like with the rest of us.
We have a couple of new threads in these forums that might be of interest: The Crimes of Bobby Fischer " & " Did Bobby Fischer Enjoy Life ? ".
Well as far as we know he was not a bank robber and also was never accused of murder so I guess that any major crimes are off the table. As he got older he became more and more paranoid plus he could be very unpleasant by all reports. Mind you most of us have a fault or two I would guess.
Reminds me of that old Irish curse: May you live in interesting times.
--- Thanks for the post Javan64, perhaps not as interesting here as I thought lol.
