Annoying draw requests

    Hi,

I seem to be plagued by idiots ( across all ratings ) who seem to delight in offering draws continually, if you refuse twice then the system should prevent any more requests being asked but no, these twits just keep on requesting and its then used as a tactic of intimidation. Can Chess.com limit these to two only then diable this function per game ?

I cannot be the only one to have suffered this ?

I just find it amusing...I dont really knwo what these people are trying to do honestly, Sometimes i think they missed the resign button, sometimes i wonder if they really do think that theres a draw.

oh continually? like spam? thats pretty funny..no havent seen that exactly

    I agree Fiveofswords.

I think its funny - you just gotta decline each time and have a little snigger to yourself. I have come across it once before but my opponent got the hint after two draw requests were declined.

Well , it has never happened to me though. I dont  know whether some tend to play ''drawish'' chess to attract draw requests that often..Wink

I suggest you "do a Topalov" (insist on Sofia rules) whereby all draws must be passed through erik. He'll like that, nothing is too much trouble for that saintly man.

Some people see losing a chess game as losing their self worth and they'll do anything to not lose. It's really sad.

Anyway, your best bet is to ignore it. Making a move is the simplest way of rejecting a draw, but I only do it in those situatuions.

Yes it happened to me once.He was in a hopeless position.I was about 5 pieces up including his queen. After each move he was requesting a draw.It was annoying But i replied by telling him he should resign every move.

Are we talking about live or CC chess. Offering draw is in the rules. And one can do it from move no. 1 'till move before #. Why do you find it annoying? Record in GM games is 15 or 16 draw offers in one game. Cant remember.

He's talking about chronic draw offers - as in every two seconds...

But can't you just ignore the offer? Seems like the right medicine.

Oh, Prawn, this post is begging to be moderated - on the sheer off-chance that someone might take you seriously.

...either that or he'll dub you first "Online Chess.com Arbiter."

On the serious note, the OP seems to only play Live chess, so I can see where it's much uglier a situation in those games. Precious seconds can be wasted declining?

On correspondence, you have the luxury to take time to decline and snigger (to paraphrase Lampman).

I've experienced this, but not nearly to the extent that the OP seems to imply he has.  Perhaps he has some characteristics that tend to draw annoying requests.

Not to be snarky, Grobe, but during Live chess, what kind of characteristics can be represented in that extremely limited venue?

(unless we're considering the possibility that the OP likes to trash-talk, which is yet another "annoying" issue which certainly can invite GIGO - garbage-in, garbage-out - transactions)

Oh, I don't really know -- I was just manufacturing the opportunity to re-arrange the words in this topic's title.

I can imagine that it is annoying when someone offers continually offers draws.ignoring is the best thing to do knowing that you will win.

And following up with a block of the offending player if you find that it's that aggrivating.

No matter how sarcastic/unlikely/fantastic I make a comment, there's usually someone (at least) who takes the whole matter entirely too seriously. Those are the moments I post for..... pure bliss. Laughing

But still it is annoying. I think one way to curb this is all "Offer draw" once in three moves. If the offer draw is not accepted, dont show the button for next 2 moves. Sometimes, as player i know it is draw, but if my opponent pushes too much unnecessarily, it takes up your energy. It is better to allow the "offer draw" button but limit the usage once it is rejected
