I know you guys need to make a living, but this is getting a bit ridiculous.

I guess they're here to stay.  I made a similar thread a while ago:

It's things like this which deter me from becoming a premium member (I am a premium member on other sites, including another chess site).

Was just coming over to add a similar comment.  I even had to wait to start typing this while all the damn ads were loading.

I know the point of this site is to make money for the people involved in its construction, etc, but is it not possible to have advertising that's a little more subtle, doesn't actually prevent me from making moves, opens up pop ups and crashes my computer almost every time I open up this site?  Well and good for those people who have super powerful computers, but for those who don't (and I'm pretty sure I'm only sitting in the midrange somewhere) its a serious turn off to using this site.

And before the regular 'well buy a membership then' comments start, I used to be a diamond member and unfortunately had to drop it for a while, needing to cut spending in certain areas.  I hope to sign up again soon when the cash flow is better, but this isn't just about me.  A premium membership might not be much for all the Americans and Europeans out there but for people in some countries its probably a fee they can't afford and the ads are irritating to a fault.  I have no problem with advertising, but making them a little less intrusive would be a good start.

Anyway, I'll try some of the links above and see what happens.

Funny though, you acknowledge the site has to bring in money but then are railing about ads. I admit those inflatable pop up ads are annoying but there's a real easy way to get rid of them, hmmm? I have not seen a single once since I became a paid member.

Not everyone is interested in owning a credit card and support the greedy banksters. Some people believe in MORALITY.

And some people like other people to pay for what they feel is rightfully theirs......

I agree with Nimzoblanca. The site experience is not what it used to be with all of these pop-ups.

    Credit is immoral? That's interesting.

There's methods of payment apart from credit card I'm sure if you want to keep your hard-earned out of the hands of those scheming banksters.

Google pop up blocker works well too.

That said, I am used to them anyway and just ignore them.
