Antichess I believe is a variation of Chess where the object of the game is to lose all of your pieces because the opponent 'must' capture if possible (like checkers).  I might be mistaken though.

well its a variation of chess where you play to loose all your pieces incl your king. if you have lost all your pieces you win. in case of stalemate also you win.

the biggest catch in this is if you are cutting a piece of your opponent you have to cut it. if you are cutting more than one then you can choose which one to cut.

when your pawn reaches the 8th rank your opponent decide which piece it will promote to.

They call this suicide on FICS and quite a few people play it I think.  Check out http://www.freechess.org.

Yeah, commonly known as Suicide.

You'll see it on most blitz servers, like FICS, and maybe ICC, but not on many corrospondence sites.

Loser's as well.  In Suicide, you lose the K.  In Loser's,  you have to sac all but the K. :)

It would probably be a great party game with those shooter glass chess sets I've seen. Top up the pieces with absinthe and scotch and get the party started LOL

ive never heard of antichess - i think its correctly called Suicide or Losers - in suicide the object is to get checkmate or be left with just your king ~ and losers the object is to lose all your pieces

In both games if you can take a piece you are forced - thus pieces like the bishop and rook are horrid pieces that should be given up as soon as possible otherwise they will destroy you
