Hi everyone, firstly I'd like to salute our Chess.com staff for their effort in adding new features and constantly improvng the site. But now to the point... I've read someone posting he liked 3d pieces because he felt playing with them was beneficial to his OTB vision. What do you think of this?
I guess most of us agree that it's easier to "see" through the position with 2d pieces, but if 3d pieces help my OTB vision, then by all means I'll stick to them.
i find them distracting and hard to play with but that's just me
That's why the options are there, for YOU to decide which you like best.
I don't like using them in my games - but I like that they're available.
I love them. They make me want to hold a real piece in my hand. A nice heavy king or queen in rich mahogany with a felt bottom.
i didn't like them much. It reduces my vision because is blocking the front of a tall pieces like king and queen.
I haven't actually checked them out yet because everytime I've seen 3D pieces in the past I quickly decide that they're crap and go back to the 2D board, every single time. I'll never get my head around that one, for all the graphics in video games these days that get better year after year, and yet no-one seems to get the 3D chess board right. How hard can it be?
