I have some questions about chess. I play a lot of blitz. Lately my game has been really bad, and I haven't been able to climb out but I'm trying. I want to find some time to study the game deeper and practice tactics again. I've been a paying member for 3 years, so I have a lot of enjoyment and appreciation of the game. I am have legit questions but a lot of time I'm just here to play on the forum with others, not at their expense. When people post serious topics people come into the thread and joke around or fight. If people post funny stuff, people get serious or offended. I'm trying to find a balance, but for me balance is an intermittent state, with most of the time trying to find that balance :-) Anyway, cheers. I'm not here to troll. Hopefully there are some like-minded people who like to banter and have fun in topics too. You're a great poster so I would not want to lose your input. Please don't take my posts the wrong way.
Chess.com forums are intended to discuss pizza. FACT! (Evidence provided)
Maybe it's better to eat as a light pizza as you can during a game, cause when digesting food your body needs to make the stomach work well, instead of the brain, which is needed in order to think good chess moves/plans.
I think what keeps me in my comfort zone is being able to look at a thread and decide whether it's a serious thread or a fun, throwaway thread. As long as I can make that call without much difficulty, I'm good with either type of thread.

This is a throw away thread now. It was a throw away question. Initially I wanted both an answer and a little fun. Now it's dead. But I have spend some time editing the title and original post. My next thread will either be dead serious, seriously funny, or a vain attempt to be funny but will flop. In any case I will try to be very clear about which it is. Cheers!
I've been at tournaments where someone would start eating chips, crinkling the bag...And other players start bitching to the TD...
It's funny when players think that crunching potato snacks etc slowly makes them quieter...

But if they let the chips dissolve in their mouth... Something to think about. But not for very long.
Hmmm that requires a lot of concentration not to bite plus the crisp eater knows they are a potential source of annoyance, so they have guilt thing as well.
depends on the tournament, I go to a tournament where you can't have food at the board. Pizza wouldn't fly, but usually a chocolate bar or something like candy that you suck on would be fine I'd say. Why would you have to eat pizza at a game? I wouldn't like my opponent eating pizza, though beverages/candy/snacks I'm totally fine with.
But...who sucks on chocolate bars? ._.
In my experience, pizza is always the best answer.
I knew you'd say that...
I can tell by your breaking bad avatar
Now-and-zen... Who says chess players can't have fun? The whole reason you play chess in the first place is to have fun right?... RIGHT???
Oh, and if a "rolling stoner" thinks it improves thier game... they've had too much.
In my experience, pizza is always the best answer.
It really is. And the best part is, it doesn't even require a question.
It's not too nice to go back and modify previous posts without specifically flagging the changes.
At first your threads weren't too bad, but lately they've become more trollish. I'm *this far* from just ignoring all of your threads in the future.
Sorry. Hard to know what the expectations are, based on all the stuff I see posted here. Is it supposed to be serious, funny? Proprietary? Reverent? Irreverent? I didn't realize for a thread like this it mattered too much.
Honestly I did wonder about food and peeing at tournaments but after getting those answers I thought it could be made more fun and this title is not so out of line with other kinds of threads I see floating around. I wasn't trying to piss people off, but I know I'm not going to please everyone. Anyway, I assume this will drop off the list pretty soon and that's fine. Just here to have fun and learn a little.
I do think that thread creation is more art than science. In my opinion, you can occasionally be funny, flippant, or irreverent, but if that's all you ever do, then people start to wonder if it's just trolling.
In this case, it wasn't clear to me if you really even cared about eating pizza at tournaments. You didn't really piss me off, but I did start wondering if I had wasted time giving an answer to someone who might just be trolling.
