3 Medals and a Trophy. However, this was only for the WSCA. At a guess, back five or six years, I would have been rated around 1050-1100 if I look at my old opponents and make a rough estimate. Now if I played in tournaments I am sure I could break and hold 1200-1250.
Am I strong for my age? Nope.
There's a 17 year old on here, who made IM at 16.
There's a guy Sergey Karjakin who made GM at 12.
when i was younger i was good but then i stoped for about 3 years and now i suck
I'll be 52 in September and my USCF rating is 1894 which i guess is ok but my game could use a lot of improvement
im probably not even good for someone twice my age. I bet 99 year old chessplayers would beat the hell out of me. Probably 6 year olds could beat me too.
There's also some guy named Magnus Carlsen who broke 2800 elo at 18.
FIDE 1538 as of Aug 2013
#49 in Greece U14
So? He's not on this site.
He's out of this world!
Does it matter.
My girlfriend says I am.
I would ask..."Are you as good as you think you can be?"Age doesnt matter so much in chess.
What relevance does it have, whether he's on the site or not?? The thread is about age and one's level. I just pointed out that Karjakin made GM at 12.
Is the purpose to drive everybody but 0.0000001% of the population into depression and despair?
I'm 41 years old. I play at around FIDE 2050 level, and I'm very happy and proud to be there - as ten years ago my playing strength was only around 1900, and before that it was never higher than 1800s.
If you always find joy and pleasure in the game, and can even keep improving, which is never an easy task - then you play very well for your age, indeed!
That doesn't mean guy on here isn't good. He didn't ask "Are you the best ever, for your age?"
