Arkansas chess club

I found an Arkansas chess club meeting in Books A Million in N Little Rock.  What a gracious fun group of guys.  I played Hayden, David, and Jim and and had a wonderful time.  I wish I would have been playing them before.  Anyway they told me they meet tues at 7pm to 10pm  at Books A Million.

Back in high school, I played David Mcpherson at a Little Rock tournamet, where I also played the legally blind, Dennis Cummings from Hot Springs. David plays  a pretty solid French defense.

Played Dennis Cummings a couple of years ago.  I'm in the NW part of the state, though, so I've never been to a LR chess club meeting.  Been to a few in Fayetteville and frequent the Ft. Smith tournaments.

I think Tyler Madsen is leading the Fayetteville pack over there. I may be lying though. He is a pretty solid player. Richie Kohl was my chess coach in my high school days. He is now the ACF President i believe

I beat Tyler Madsen in my first ever USCF tournament game.

I dont know about my first but i beat his Sicilian myself. I was only 1100 ish at the time.

The Fayetteville Chess Club is being "led" by Bill Orton if you go by best player.  At least I don't know of anyone better than him.  I know Les Kline runs most of the tournaments I've entered.

Yes Bill Orton is a very strong player, though I have never played him. He is 2000+ I know that much. By led I meant Madsen being the  Fayetteville Chess Club Coach right? I may be mistaken. But I havent played in a tournament since 2011

anyone still play in Little Rock or Conway area?

Hello, I see you have posted about chess in Arkansas. I live in hot springs. Do you know of any chess clubs in central Arkansas.
