Well should beginers start of with blitz 5 min games ect. or 10min+ long games? I started out with the long games but now im not to good at making my move fast enough in blitz. When I start running out of time I make more mistakes which contributes to my downfall but on the upside I am more aware of attacking my oppenent.

My blitz rating is 1050 my Long rating is 1190 there is a big gap in peformance.

My blitz in live isĀ 802, and my long is 1503 yes there is a huge difference in mine. I think a true chess game is long, with a lot more concentration gone into it myself.

I think playing at speeds where one does not make silly blunders is better if a player plans to play USCF/FIDE chess. After all, blundering a single piece is usually sufficient to lose in an over-the-board game. For me 8/5 is fine, but everyone's different.

Play 3 long games (at least 30 minutes per game) then play a blitz game, hopefully with time increments. So what I recommend is a blitz game for every 3 long games
