Id personally capture the pawn on g4 with knight. It's my instinctual move and took me a second to find but I think its a good one. Lol, what did you end up playing?
Black to move - what should I do
Hi blowerd--this isn't the most exciting answer, but I'd settle for 1...Ba7. You're a piece ahead and it stops the a-pawn while threatening 2...Nxg4. White can't allow that (3. hxg4 Qxg4+ 4. Bg3? Qxg3+) so he has to take a break to get the king out of the way. Then you do something additionally defensive like 2...Qd7 and there's little to fear at that point.
you can take on g4, w king goes to f1..., then you get back knight to h6, Ke2, than Ba7, Rd8, Qd7...
I don't really see anything promising after
- ... Nxg4
- Qxc5 Nxf2+
- Kxf2 Qg2+
- Ke3 Qxh3+
- Kd2 Rd8+
- Ke2
So... Ba7?

No, not Nxf2. Nh2 or Ne3 and follow with mate.
I think Nxg4 is a very powerful move. You can always move the bishop later, and there is loads of tactics waiting to happen when that file gets cleared.
Although you do have to be careful about that pawn.
...Nxg4 immediately doesn't lead to a win; white responds Qxc5 and after the suggested ...Ne3+, Bg3 is fine for the defense. ...Nxf2 instead as indicated by earlmint is probably good for a perpetual but nothing more.
not 1. ... Nxg4
2. Qxc5 Ne3
3. Bg3 !!
Try Bxf2+ .White responds with Bxf2 or Kxf2,then black has good options
Thanks in advance for your suggestions. And to keep peace of mind on the forum I will point out in advance this is not an ongoing game, the game was completed OTB last night.
