On Live Chess I have the weirdest situation.  I've discovered that I am *terrible* at blitz chess.  My blitz rating is in the 1000s.  My long chess rating, on the other hand, is in the 1700s.  Anyone else have a similar rating (and skill) gap?  I find mine particularly hilarious.

I did, but gradually i got better. You also have to remember the conditions you play under long games is probably at a tournament in a large quiet room whereas your probably playing blitz while chatting online, watching the news and listening to music (like me, hehe)! The gap is understandable but a gap of 700 is strange.

Same here.  I seem to lose most of the games, that I do lose, on  time.

I do better with longer games.  Say, ten minute over five and so on.

Yup, same with me. Most of my loses in blitz are on time. I dont mind tho, thats what i choose to play and if im better on the board than my opponent it doesnt bother me at all.

I fall somewhere in the middle...i play those long games like there blitz-games...at that proves costly...  so rating in the blitz is 1530+, but in the long game 1190... go figure.  I get frustrated and move poorly in both...and i know it's the time factor for both!   I think I enjoy watching them and laughing most :-)

Yeah I kinda have the opposite effect going on... im about a 1300 correspondence player, but im about 1700 blitz.... idk i guess I just prefer to play more quickly

i don't get the live chess because the time doesn't get reseted when you do your move so i always lose because you do need to think about some moves for more than a minute
