Hmmm... in a forum post on resigning, I posted that I did not mind if my *opponent* didn't resign, but not that I don't resign myself.  And yet this apparently put me in the OP's bad books such that he blocked me.  This in itself is of no consequence, except that now I can't participate in the discussion any longer!  I wish people would read a little more carefully...

Perhaps you were blocked for having too many "NOTs". Do you mean:

"I did not mind if my *opponent* didn't resign, but that I don't resign myself." ?

Ha!  Good point... here's what I posted on that other forum:

"I never mind when an opponent does not resign - fighting out such battles to the finish has improved my endgame skills tremendously!"

Only one "not" in there.

"Blocked members will be unable to post on your Notes section or send you Messages."

Jay wrote: "I believe it is just our FAQ that is out of date here. Blocking users does prevent them from much more than just that. They can't join your open seeks, you won't be auto paired with them in seeks, they can't join your tournaments, and theres probably a few more I'm missing as well." Where was that post about just blocking people from playing you (because they have an 'unfortunate' attitude about resigning), but not blocking them from talking to you?

I was blocked from that topic too. But I never understood why.

A person should resign when THEY think they should, not when SOMEBODY ELSE thinks they should. Sometimes you know your lost but want a lesson in just how to win that won game.

Perhaps the discussion has been done to death already, anyways.  My vote: I resign when I see no point in continuing to play myself, but I enjoy playing out games even where I've clearly won - if I have to checkmate the other player's lone king with a queen and rook, I just try and see if I can do it in as few moves as possible.  I know I haven't perfected the endgame, and still need practice.

I got blocked from that thread too. It's unimportant, pretty much like the thread's topic which was covered pretty quickly. Perhaps the OP thought the thread was dragging on uselessly.

You're right, it was all covered and there's nothing more to say really... it just annoys me when something like that happens and I don't know why - but this is the internet, so I should be used to that by now!

The OP had said that he was blocking everyone who said they "never resign", or something to that effect... I'm not sure if you posted something like that, but I know I certainly didn't!

Apparently he didn't want to ever play anyone who supports the concept of not resigning...

Sounds like a pretty sneaky strategem: lure out of the woodwork all of the people whose views you disagree with - then BLOCK 'EM!   Entrapment isn't frowned upon in this domain, isn't it?

There's still a place for SMART SANCTIONS i.e. just blocking people from playing you (challenging you, accepting your challenges, joining your tournaments, being placed in the same group as you in tournaments, being paired against you in Team Matches) but not from talking to you.
