I believe BOBBY is GREATEST among world CHAMPIONS1
Anybody can PROTEST AGAINST THAT?
You are welcome but dont sleep!!
Hehehe! I dont see anybody oppposing that already!!
I'd take Kasparov's career over Fischer's flash in a pan one.
My team line-up of 5....1st,carlsen,Fischer,kasp.,kamm. cabla. ---match them up aganist any 5. Who's best? What do u mean by 'best' or 'greatest'?
match them up against ANAND,LASKER,TAL,GRECO,ANDERSSEN
As much as I like Fischer I have to to say he'd probably lose a close match against Karpov. Karpov's defensive technique and positional understanding is too deep.
All you guys! Remember onething! or several things!
--He was the only player who won 6-0 in 3 personal pre-world championship matches!
--He DECLARED that HE COULD AND WILL BEAT THE RUSSIANS in a World Championship! Such a confidence is UNKNOWN even now in world level chess. Nowadays, anybody has got the guts to declare like that?!
--He defaulted the 1st match game and lost the 2nd game in a WAY to tell the world that he COULD WIN the World Championship match conceding 0-2 handicap! UNHEARD OF in WC matches! SUCH was his confidence that he couldbeat anyone at that time!
--He would have defeated Karpov 6-0!!
--Perhaps he would have struggled a bit against Kasparov, but would have won by a comfortable margin. When uncle Vishy can beat Kaspy, Why not FISCHER in his prime?!
--Apart from Tal, Fischer holds the record for the MOST OUTRAGEOUS CHESS MOVES, vide Pandolfini's book on the subject!
Fischer was the only World Champion who played not a single classical game while he held the title. As Champions go, he was the very worst.
^ This. Fischer's run up to the title made him one of the greatest title CONTENDERS of all time. But once he got the title, he was the worst champion the game has ever known. There's really no way to argue otherwise.
You have not yet answered my question, has anybody now has the guts to say that he WILL defeat the Challenger?
Fischer had the guts to SAY that and he DID it!!
HE IS THE GREATEST!
Moreover Fischer himself said that he gave 100 percent energy to everygame he played to win them, especially AGAINST players who were legends themselves!
Why should he play any Tom, Dick and Harry, when he had beaten the legends in his time!!
Umm, no he didn't. He didn't even have the guts to play a challenger, let alone say he'd defeat them. That's why Karpov was handed the title without having to play any games. Fischer was a complete no-show as champion.
If you want to argue he was the greatest challenger ever, you'll get no argument. But greatest champion? Please, he was pathetic. And, btw, Kasparov absolutely had the guts to say he would defeat numerous challengers. My favorite of his comments was "My opponent will be Short and the match will be short."
houdini is best.
The Americans like kingpatzer are a weird lot! They dont know how to respect their own country men!
Perhaps they got too big a dose of the respect their own country man showed for them.
no, kingpatzer isnt weird, he is just saying the truth.
thats like saying you are indian (i presume), so you should like anand more.
opinions have nothing to do with race.
They don't? That seems a trifle naive...
well... most ppl dont blindly follow someone cause they are of the same race. (i say most ppl for a reason)
Actually I think they do.
