the op is untrue, if you consider the stat for the number of gm cats to gm boys and the relative numbers of cats to boys actively involved in chess then cats are infinitely the stronger players, cats haven't been playing as long as boys either which is an important point, given equal access to chess all cats would be much better than the boys.

i thought about cats in specific genders categories, but in the end, the research isn't totally definitive as to boy cats v girls cats when it comes to chess.  and don't even get me started on cats who use the King's Gambit opening.  nobody here wants to see that 15 pages of fighting?  

yeah,boys are better than cats no doubt,but that doesn't mean that there will never be a genius cat that will rise against the odds to become the world champion!!

I think it's important, though, to recognize those things that cats are better at than boys.  Like unrolling a roll of toilet paper or shredding the sofa.

Those things don't bother me though -- I can get the bottlecap out from under the fridge.
