The word is "flak"--but not from me. Your statement, while not universally true, is an accurate generalization, and anyone who wants to cry fowl and give you flak about "stereotypes" simply needs to recognize that they are simply a kind of generalization, and that as long as a generalization is not universally applied, it is perfectly acceptable, and even quite useful.

With all of that said, it is well known that no woman has ever been a top contender in the public eye (the "public" public, not individual chess audiences), and the strongest players in the world have always been men. If anyone wishes to bring up any particular female players, by all means feel free. But naming one or two or three only serves to prove my point--if you have to specify a few unique individuals, it only further demonstrates their uniqueness--and any woman who is a strong contender at the elite level is indeed unique.

Serve these flavorful scallops as a main dish or make them an appetizer with a tasty sauce or dressing.

    Ingredients:

    • 2 pounds large sea scallops, about 18 to 20
    • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
    • 2 teaspoons olive oil
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • Dash freshly ground pepper
    • .
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 2 teaspoons unsalted butter

    Preparation:

In a food storage bag, toss scallops gently with the Cajun seasoning, 2 teaspoons olive oil, salt, and pepper. Refrigerate for about 1 hour.

Heat the 1 tablespoon olive oil and 2 teaspoons of butter in a large skillet over high heat. With tongs, arrange the scallops in the hot fat and cook for about 2 to 3 minutes on each side, or until nicely browned.

Serve as a first course salad with Mimosa Dressing or serve with rice and steamed veggies for a delicious meal.
Serves 4 as a main dish or about 6 as a first course.

I'd like to make my own generalization.  Swedes and other Scandinavians are good with seafood.

It's a problem of statistics. There are about 16 times more men in the rating lists than women. So if we asume that players are statistically spread over the ratings, then the amount of really bad players and the amount of exceptionally good players correlates to the absolute number of chessplayers in the statistics.

I found the result of applying statistics on men and women on chessbase (I believe to remember) and they stated, that you cannot prove the thesis, that women are weaker chessplayers than men. So just bring enough girls to chess and see, how the climb up the FIDE-List ;)

After you solve that, can you also solve global warming? I hear it's getting pretty bad :P

But, how do you address the problem that the best woman is not as good as the best man, and never has been? Hence my point above.
