When you're losing is there a way to lose that protects your points.For example if A player sees they are losing and decided to lose on time and not be mated or simply resign does that help them keep a few points even though they'll lose anyway?Or maybe I'm just running into too many sore losers.

No difference in rating change.

The only way is to provoke your opponent (but subtly - so you appear not at fault). Then, if they write something abusive in the chat, you can report them and try to get them banned. It's a high risk strategy though.
