Thanks to "get_lost" for spotting this first.

Very exciting indeed. But will we see games? And if so, who will get to play them? The top rated chess.com players?

They're only rated at 1200. That doesn't sound so tough.

Well, Reb, does that mean you're putting your name forward? Surely a list of "legitimate" players like yourself could be drafted.

I would put my name forward, but that might scare them off !!...

On second thoughts, I could just challenge them all - even if they turn me down, I can go down in history as saying "I challenged the World's top players!" Laughing

"... but they wouldn't step up to the mark".

You should be able to dine out on that tale for a while.

Ok, let me modify that: how about "I was totally ignored by the world's top players." Cry

Woudn't it be funny if one of them posts here:

How do I get a game?

It would, yes. Btw, I have formally challenged M.Carlsen. At first I thought it was a Win/Win scenario for me (if I lose, I get the experience without losing points), until I see that because he's rated 1200, I only get 3 points for a win, and lose 13 points if I lose. Crumbs!!

(Let's take care not to alienate them too quickly.)

If they've only got basic membership, they won't be entitled to use much of the advanced functionality (Chess Mentor, videos, etc.) to sharpen up their pre-match preparation.

They have DIAMOND Membership - no problems there.

Maybe they will play some bullet or blitz games in live chess, but i doubt they want to play some computers in normal games.

I'm guessing those are complimentary memberships.  If any of those top players were to so much as comment here, it would be a tremendous thrill for most of us.

The best chance any of them might actually PLAY here is if Nakamura spots the threads on the Bongcloud Opening .  .  .

    Cool

Hey, I'd play against Nakamura if he started with the Bongcloud...

Hmmm - so either lay out X dollars and study for Y years hoping to gain a title (thereby qualifying for a free diamond membership) - or buy a diamond membership directly for less than $100/year. Decisions! Decisions!
