Anyone know why castling out of check isn't allowed? afterall, you can move out of check, and isn't castling a type of move?

I'm not suggesting the rules should be changed, just wondering if there's a reason for the rule or if it's just one of those things lost to history...

Thankyou for your informative opinion; perhaps it would have been more succinct to have merely stated that you didn't know? What I am trying to find out is WHY the rules were written that way...

I don't know either. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that a castling move also involves moving a rook and allows a king to move 2 spaces with one move.

Check the history section here. I am not sure how reliable it is but I have read similar articles before.
