cheat code being used frequently (one piece freeze up)

hello.  i would just like to draw attention to what seems to be a nasty cheat code that is being thrown, mostly at the tournaments, but also in private games.  it seems to lock up just one (or maybe two) pieces, and all the rest you can move freely. but the reason i am almost certain it is a code and not a glitch or bug is because it always *knows* which piece, or sometimes two pieces, are the absolutely most essential to use for that next move.  i've been hit by it several times in the last couple days and it is really destroying my games, tournaments, rating, and enjoyment of a site i was hopeful in joining as a paying member (this week although played here as gold member for a few years).  has anyone else been encountering this??!?!?!?!?!?!

you're playing find, then suddenly you go to take back their queen pawn with your sicilian C pawn ; D and only THAT pawn is frozen.  it's as though a computer or human intelligence is behind it determining which piece will freeze.  the internet connection, computer, other pieces work fine.  just the one piece has the 'no' sign by it and will not respond.  i am very much thinking this is some sort of code, and hopefully not being used by moderators if by random players...

Pretty sure it's not a "cheat code".  Are you sure you aren't trying to make an illegal move?

Doggy_Style

Post a game (or link to a game), in which this has occurred. Please indicate the relevant move number and which piece(s) couldn't be moved.

An illegal move was my first thought too.

lol... a "cheat code" ... really?  Too much x-box for this kid.  There are no cheat codes for chess, sorry.

He says its happened several times in the last couple of days. I guess its possible if you don't know how the pieces move. I'm thinking, if there are no voices, magic might be involved

Look at the poster's rating. Who would want to cheat him? If you're cheating you would think big and cheat a master. To be Frank--as I always am--who would want to even bother to cheat him, me or you?

shepi13

And why would he be the only one with the problem?? Unless he might be cheating himself!?

who knows?  whos to say the grandmastars arent being cheated?  online gaming has always had cheats its tradation and just they way things are this site is not immune

Yeah you are obviously right about the hacking, i would just assume that sophisticated hackers who really have the knowledge to hack without getting put to jail and have the guts to hack, would find something better to hack then chess.com. After all its a punishable crime anyway, so why risk it just to cheat at chess?

Two main reasons. There are many much much much easier ways to illegitimately win a chess game. Also it is a lot of effort to go through for something that has no real return.

Like, who goes through the trouble of designing a program to cheat in online chess games, hacking into a chess website and then implementing it just to raise their rating??

If someone was going to bother hacking into chess com, they would go after peoples credit card details...not their rating points.

kco

Then why isn't the OP giving us the games link ?
