quick draws destroys otb why should I play otb chess if is done openly right in front of TD.
a player from the same club may agree to agree to a draw in last round if the player can win the tournament with a draw.
otb chess shouldn't tournament shouldn't be whom you know to win.
two players I know from the same club always agree to draw if they are matched in the first round so they still have equal changes in the tournament.
I think prearranged draws should result in 1 year ban.
How do supervise such a thing. There are openings that result in draw. even perpetual threat kind of, And players are free to choose their moves the can play one of such and there is no way you punish for that
there are opening that result in a draw if two grandmasters meet. however two players around 1500-1600 cannot play so correct that a opening result in draw.
a 1400 player at a tournament set up a position and told me that there was no point in playing that position because it will result in a draw. He said a grandmaster analyzed it to be draw.
So I challenged him to prove the draw and he lost the game from that position.
Not to play with draws?
Maybe make draws worth 0.6 for black and 0.4 for white?
Then black would have an advantage. Still, it is still a draw.
The idea is that awarding 0.6 to black for a draw compensates for black's opening disadvantage of moving second. This would discourage draws, but will probably not become a popular method IMHO.
I personally don't mind the status quo since I play only for fun (not strong enough to compete for $). But I can understand why professionals, chess event promoters, and spectators are concerned about pre-arranged draws.
