Are you allowed to use the internet to aid you in your game? i havent done it, but i would be interested to know.

What is are the rules about cheating?You can NEVER use chess programs or engines (Chessmaster, Fritz, etc) to analyze current ongoing games unless specifically permitted (such as a computer tournament, agreed upon unrated game, etc). The only type of computer assistance allowed is games databases for opening lines in Turn-based Correspondence-style Chess and Vote Chess, Chess.com Opening Explorer, chess books, and an analysis board. You cannot use ANY outside assistance on Live Chess games.Fixing games results (through intentional loss or multiple accounts) is also cheating.
ok then so there is no problem using the internet unless you are playing live chess.
As its said: As long as you dont use any analysing program(on the internet or your computer) during games or getting help from people...feel free to use the internet to look up any information you want. And as you say: No help what so ever during live chess:)
With all due respect, it is interesting to see this question to come from such a seasoned member (+1000 posts).
member points come not just from forum posts but also from posting notes on peoples profiles and also in group notes so having 1000+ points is no indication that a player is "seasoned"

I was under the impression that endgame tables were legal- that said, I've just been too lazy to find any.

endgame tables can show you how to win an endgame. i am certain that that is not allowed!
