You mean chess in general or on line chess, specificaly? On line everything is addicitive. Nature of the internet. All you can do is unplug your broadband and go for long walk. Good luck.

A little smack will generally curb your chess DTs, if only for a little while.

I have found the following methods (partly?) effective in combating chess addiction:

    (1) put yourself on vacation on running games, and stay away from chess for a few days - preferably at least a week.

    (2) Close your account for at least a week - then reopen it (under same name), or create a new account altogether (if you create a new account, make sure you NEVER reopen your old account, or both your accounts will be closed for cheating)!

    (3) Do not get admitted into too many groups or have too many games running - you will NEVER be able to combat your addiction that way. Do not try to become popular - that will reinforce your addiction instead of reducing it.

    (4) Record the time you spend each day on chess - try to not exceed a preset amount of time limit set by you.

    (5) Do NOT set your home page to any chess site (gulp! the staff will surely get mad at me!).

There are also other methods not given here, as those will conflict with the interests of chess.com

Marcel Duchamp effectively quit art for chess.  Are you trying to say you're better than Marcel Duchamp?
