I have recently started a Computer Programming degree. And since starting i have found that my live chess game has improved a lot. I put this down to brain training. Calculating the counts of who is attacking what. Seems to come quicker. Which gives my brain more time to think about the hidden attacks. Or the attacks that are too come.

Before starting degree. I was 1250+ live. Currently 1341.

Could it be also that you are playing fewer but more focussed games as you begin to concentrate on your studies and assignments?

It's not like 90 points won't come normally as one spends time on the game. It could just be a normal outcome of chess learning.
