With all of the innovations in Social Media (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc.) I wonder if any of these have really increased the popularity of chess. It would seem to me that if anything it has really only distracted the younger players, while providing seasoned players with a way to communicate better with other chess players and -excuse the pun- network with chess players.
Does anyone have any other ideas about this? I would like to get some perspective on this. Thank you!
