Hey Everone,  I'm new to the chess arena, and I am wondering what are some good strategy books.  I know the basics of chess, but I want to take my game to a higher level.

One of the best chess books I ever read, was "The Chess Player's Bible" by James Eade. It goes through many chess positions, openings, and checkmates, not to mention all the great tips on how to use all the pieces to your best advantage, and using simple layman's terms to explain in detail why the chess openings are so important, and what EXACTILY to do when you come across one of them.

I've leaned to much from this book, and I give it a lot of credit for my greatly improved game. This book gave me another way to see things, and a new fresh way to look at the board. It teaches you how to use very simple thought processes in order to understand a chess position or tactic more thoroughly.

I highly recommend this book to a chess player of any skill level from a player just beginning, to a much more advanced player. It sounds to me as if you'd fit in that category just fine.

Give the book a try! I highly recommend it!

One of my favorites was "Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess".  It is an

easy read and your game will improve immediately.  It is also

famous for its get to the end and flip it over format.
