Just listening to radio news on the BBC & there's an item about ChessBoxing. Not something I've heard of before but sounds intriguing - how can it be worked into chess.com I wonder ...

Well - beats me why this didn't attract any comments. Have a look at the You Tube video folks ...
It can't be worked into chess.com. Besides, I doubt that the majority of people interested in chess are also avid boxers.
Yea, that' s a gimmick that, while it has good intentions, I feel won't last long. It's kinda like having Motley Crue open for Mannheim Steamroller - not exactly a fitting show. :)
It would be hilarious nonetheless.
i like chess and all kinds of martial arts!
but i don't think the two are necessarily complementary, something about repeated punches to the head and then the need to concentrate doesn't seem to work to my mind.
Heard of it and seen it...and it looks absolutely dumb.
Chess and boxing have a lot in common. Lennox Lewis would tell you that, he's a keen player. I once heard some GM say that an American study showed that a 5 hour championship game of Chess was equivalent to 15 rounds of boxing from the mental stress point of view. Mental bruises can be just as painful.
Chessboxing is the real deal - I've staged several sold-out events in London over the last 18-months to total and universal acclaim. Every audience is amazed and enthralled by the spectacle and many people come back time after time. Whatever you may think you know about chessboxing - you can't possibly understand it without being there.
If there was a chessboxing event locally I would be there straight away, but that´s just because I like elaborate jokes.
It's the ultimate test for both mind and body!
OK TimGBCBO - bring it to Newcastle & I'll be there (as a member of the audience that is ...)
So Newcastle is the place to go to do Chess Boxing ?
Try taking a chess set down the Bigg Market on a Friday or Saturday night & you may just find yourself in a chess boxing match (people who know Newcastle will understand the reference )
Hah, that's awesome. Ripped off a graphic novel, but cool nonetheless. I can't help but feel that the stronger boxer has a significant advantage though.
