I didn't recognize it as Latin. That'd have been a clear indication that it wasn't opera!
Oh, it's a recently discovered work.

@ClavierCavalier "Yeah, it's a little short."

Were the paintings you have submitted done by your very own hands? You are an artist. A great labor of love.
hello gregdokot... tantale has this great website http://www.jmrw.com/Chess/Tableau_echecs/index.htm where you can enjoy beautifull "chess-art"... i like classical// some like modern or psychedelical,,, everything can be found there ... if you look more in this thread, there are so many styles added by tantale, it would be unreal if he made all of these :))
if someone could do it, it would be geert jan jansenhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geert_Jan_Jansen
i admire his skill very much... a cannoy say this about many modern artists
According to you shoud I add this drawing to my chess painting page?

A few years ago I was sitting in another developer's office here, staring idly at the Escher print on her wall. This print was a long, thin strip that went almost all the way around the top of the office walls. It showed many different geometric motifs merging from one form to another, in typical Escher fashion. It suddenly dawned on me that the chess pieces in one section of the print were arranged in a real chess position.
Here it is:
Let’s give it a try:
- RxQ : White Rook takes black Queen (White King was checked, can’t take Queen, due to Bishop)
- Nf2 checkmate : Black Knight at f2
Escher was brilliant. I have one of his prints in my living room. When my stepfather saw it, he said, "you could hang it any way"!
another Escher's .. not with chess-pieces but nice chessboardish geometry
the landscape hung in my family house... it is based on the landscape around the town i still live and where Escher has lived most of his life
...proud.. hihi
I never knew that, j. Thanks for the pic and the background. I love many of MCE's prints. This is the one I referenced (my favorite, but, I seem to like all of them!)
A short notice : see www.jmrw.com for more pictures ( I did not check whether it was already mentioned...)
