If "lazy" as in a consistent lack of will to do rigorous physical activity, then I find some truth in the statement.
If "lazy" as in not willing to do anything physically or mentalling challenging, then NOOOOOO! Chess requires a superior mind!

To play chess well takes a lot of work. Why, you ask? For the same reason that it takes years of hard work to play the piano well.
Of course, that doesn't mean you can't be lazy at either. If you don't mind being vitiated, that is. (lol)
