I am about to renew my membership with the USCF for some upcoming OTB tournaments. Last year I opted for the regular membership without Chess Life. Players at my club recommend getting Chess Life in addition to membership since it is so cheap. The premium membership is $42 and regular membership is $34. Do you think Chess Life is worth $8 a year?

Only $8 a year? Go for it!

Maybe my math is wrong (42-34) =$8 but yes at $8 per year Chess Life is well worth it--while not as good as it was int he 70's and 80's there are still some pretty good articles.

The magazine isn't that great but there are a few articles worth reading and at that price, its well worth it.

Was Chess Life sold on the news stands Or subscription based before? In the 70's I remember reading it but was not a member of USCF.
