So yesterday my dad buyed me a chess game for Ds, called Chess Master, I really liked it, it has mini games and other stuff, it's great for begginers and advanced players, especially for people who wants to learn chess, I sure wish it has more.

The most recent PC version seems to be "Chessmaster: Grandmaster Edition," also mentioned as "Chessmaster 11" or "Chessmaster XI" by the makers. Since there is also a "9000" and a "10th edition," I am guessing that Chessmaster 8000 for the PC is three editions behind the current ("Chessmaster XI" or "Grandmaster Edition").

Chessmaster: Art of Learning is the Nintendo DS version and shouldn't be confused with Chessmaster XI: Grandmaster Edition even though CMXI has "The Art of Learning."

The DS and PSP versions have fun minigames and are nice for practice on the go, but the PC version has ALOT more tutorials and annotated games.  Its definitely a good place to start.  The Josh Waitzkin academy is very good as well as the Chessmaster Academy on the PC version.  Waitzkin is an inspiring teacher.  He is a Tai-Chi master as well as an International Chess Master; focused on developing both mind and body.

I have that version as well.

It's a really good portable chess game. However, I was disappointed in the fact that you can't change your chess set as there simply are no others. Chessmaster has been known for flash and visual oomph since the old Windows 95 days. There's not much here. And the fact that it doesn't utilize the DS's WiFi capabilities is a GLARING oversight on Ubisoft's part. I can see the first issue as it saves on memory space, but there is no excuse whatsoever for not making it fully wifi enabled.

*is cranky*

Clubhouse Games for the DS has chess on it and *is* wifi enabled. However the native AI is a joke, and finding someone to play with online is dicey as it's a matching service. Still, though...

it's also an arcade game for the Xbox 360, which with online play seems a little messed up.
