For those of you who want to improve their chess but don't want to go premium yet for chess.com videos, there are hundreds of instructive videos on youtube.com. Here's a quick summary of some channels dedicated to chess.
My personal favourite. Kingscrusher is a titled player (CM) with almost 2000 videos uploaded. He performs analysis of both grandmaster games and his own games. I especially like how many of his analysis videos of "Instructive Games" each have a theme, expressed in the titled e.g. "King Evaculation Technique" and "Handling a h pawn Advance". He also uploads 5 minute blitz games that he plays with live commentary. His videos are fun + instructive and he also uploads MUCH more frequently than other channels
Also a strong player and his analysis is very, very thorough. He doesn't upload as much as kingscrusher but his grandmaster game vidoes are great. He explains the opening quite well so you're learning a bit of opening theory as you watch if you don't know much. He has also done live commentary, but i watch him for the grandmaster games. Not as entertaining but still a great channel.
I personally watch greencastleblock for his endgame videos, which are detailed and comprehensive. He's a good teacher but I prefer other channels for game analysis and openings.
I believe this channel doesn't upload anymore but his endgame series is incredibly detailed. Unlike many other series I've seen, he goes over general endgame principles such as pawn structure, the principle of two weaknesses, using the two bishops, king activity etc (it's a long series, he goes over about 15 principles). I find his analysis videos a bit boring but thats a personal choice. His endgame series is great, no doubt.
Recently stopped uploading but he already has hundreds of videos. His endgame series goes over commonly occuring positions instead of general principles. His tactics videos are also good practice and his game analysis videos are quite good.
Jrobi and chesswebsite are fine for beginners but their analysis and opening videos don't have enough detail and tend to have inaccuracies as they are weaker players. As a beginner I liked jrobi's "Position practice" and "grandmaster endgame" videos. But I wouldn't recommend much else.Their opening trap videos are good I suppose.
Majnu is another channel but I haven't watched him so can't give any recommendation
If you guys know any other good instructors on youtube go ahead and post below.
Youtube has just about anything you can vid there and a simple search will usually generate some results of what you're looking for but I'd like to bring to your attention another site I on occasionly visit if I find something interesting and that is chessvideos.tv which has a large archive of videos submitted by members and 2 titled players that make quality videos (IM Renier Castellanos and FM Dennis Monokroussos), and IM Gregory Shahade that does live commentary games. Although it should be noted the former's videos are only available to free members for the first montho f release and the latter's is only available pay-per-view.
cool stuff !
I have watched a bit of vids on Youtube, and some of them are okay, but i must say, that they are just not at the quality of the chess.com vids. If you wanna invest that much time watching vids, i think you should also invest the money to watch vids of high quiality.
thanks for the links.
thanks for the site wilson
Great channel! I've just subscribed. Thanks!
Thanks to all for the links.
I was only subscribed to 3 of these channels! Thanks for posting the links everyone! I love to watch Youtube chess vids over lunch—it's the amateurishness of them I dig so—and WOWZERS!, why hadn't I been subscribed to Kosteniuk's channel before now?
My youtube channel is Caisu Shibe subscribe me
