Hi,

First post, been looking and looking for a nice "show piece" set for my sons birthday (ok so it is as much for me as it his for him but since he has chess fever it is a great excuse to get it now rather they wait for my own
) (price v.s. quality) and it just hit me the forum might be a great place to get some feedback..lol

Anyone have any recommendations on where to get a quality chess set in the $125 or less range?  So far this seems to be the best I can find but maybe someone knows of a site that has some amazing deals http://www.chesssets.com/chess-sets/standard-sets/caissawalnutchessset.cfm#ReviewHeader

Cheers

The House of Staunton Centurion or Collector II can be had on ebay from HOS on a good day for $125, and I've seen the Collector II go for <$90 not including shipping. 4" king in ebony and boxwood, and nicely finished too.

HOS has many sets and you may not want one as good as the above right now. All their staunton sets are worthy but not necessarily at the full retail.
