you do if you go to play. you don't if you go there to serve coffee.

I think it depends on how serious u are about playing chess if you want to play for recreation thenu would be better off in a chess club. If you want to play for rank than u should be in a chess team. The chess team would be a more serious place and you would probably play in tournaments.

You probably get more experience on a chess team, although chess clubs can sometimes serve as a chess team.  I'm a member of two chess clubs, currently, but one, I think, is more of a team.  We all train together, learn from each other, and we will attend tournaments together, although we haven't had the chance yet because we're a fairly new club.  At my other club, we just play each other, and there's no ranking except for a general pecking order: no ratings.

if you are really serious about it and want to become better at it then i think a team.
