I was thinking of a special tournament. Where we could crown one champion.

It's a little tough during the summer with many people away (myself included). Count me in but in September.

Few sites I know start registration for a site wide championship (often with a significant prize) in early November with the tournament start date being either Jan.1 or Feb.1.  It's a lot of fun, I've never made it past the 2nd round and there's usually quite a few rounds :P.

I really hope we have a 2008 Chess.com Championship.

It would be nice to have such a tournament but we already have the rankings. That is your position in the list of all the players on this site. Who has ranking number 1? This person is the champion.

Well thats true but who is to say that he or she could not be beaten. Thats why i say have a chess.com tournament where ranking is not an issue. Well to a certain extent.

i guess things with online chess are a bit more relaxed, but normally in an OTB rated tournament game, comments should be saved for after the game.  this is because sometimes it could be a chess ploy to make an opponent wonder about what you see that he/she doesn't :)

i usually only  comment during games with opponents who i know will not mind it.

thats just my personal take on it.  i certainly don't mind when my opponent comments to me online, except when they don't really know what they are talking about :)
