Thanks batgirl, that's appreciated. Your own set of traps is probably more comprehensive but these are good too. I bookmarked them.

(I haven't been on chess.com much for the past year, but I still pop in to see who's posting what.)

In a seldom seen variation of the Sicilian,  there are three traps that White can fall into. One involves losing a pawn and two involves losing a minor piece such as a N or a B. In one of the two traps where White loses a piece, White is actually lured into setting up a trap himself to lure Black to win a piece with a pawn fork so that White can win forking pawn. Except that what happens is that White's is actually snared by his own trap when he takes the pawn and loses a piece for the pawn.

It is seldom seen because its success rate in tournament play is only 35.8% and its drawing rate is 27.4%

Dozy, it's always a pleasure to see you. I know I've missed your wonderful writings.

Thanks batgirl. Still blogging, but haven't done anything on the chess blog for the past 18 months.

They're at  http://dozy-ontheflipside.blogspot.com/ where I've just worked out who happened to Atlantis, and http://dozyskaleidoscope.blogspot.com/ where I've been answering questions from Ask.com.

They're the same sort of nonsense I wrote on here, but without the chess theme.  I hope you don't mind me adding that here, but if you think this post is intrusive feel free to delete it. :-)

Thanks for the links!  I'll be sure to visit them and catch up.  Hopefully other will too.

    edit:
If I dig a hole from where I live, I end up just off the western coast of Australia.  I think I get the drift, and it's quite continental... or Cheryllian Schematics.
