Ok so I'm reading another forum in my spare time, waiting for a move, and I hear about another person rated 1200ish USCF and their chess.com rating is in the high 1800's. My USCF rating is almost 1900 yet my chess.com rating is only in the low 1800's.
WHY IS THIS???
Am I just an anomoly, just careless, or is this normal?
If anyone has any advice that would help me play my level, it'd be appreciated
Well some people simple play alot better in correspondence chess, like me. My USCF is somewherein the 800s, but here at chess.com it's 1540. I play tons better when there is no time pressure and I can use opening databases.
Generally they are roughly the same. Chess.com's rating tends to be a little higher, but it's nothing to worry about. Maybe your preferences lend themselves to playing OTB, not online.
my rating sucks
I think this person you heard about got lucky, or fibbed a bit or maybe they're just an anomaly, but you are fine.
my chess.com rating is 1669 and my uscf rating is 841 if that makes you feel better
Ratings online are very different from fide or uscf ratings. Generally your rating on chess.com will be higher. Probably because there are so many low rated players, and people who dont play very serieusly. I have no idea why your rating is higher then chess.com. Maybe you are just overrated
yes, that makes me feel tons better thank you for making my life better showing me another example of my problem
You probably face the same problem I do, eventually I get bored in correspondance games and stop looking for the best moves.
It's quite normal... Ratings OTB and in correspondence chess tend to be different... Plus you only have 46 games (including an really strong display where you mopped the floor with my behind :P)... In a few more games, you're rating here will be higher than your OTB rating.
