Try turning "meebo" off:

account>> privacy settings >> chat bar to "never show".

Worked for me.

 As I said, worked for me... before I had hanging pages full of errors and even had to reboot a few times, almost immediately things cleared up. I do have a hard-wired fibre optic connection all to myself though, don't know if this has anything to do with it.

I agree that the site has speeded up a bit since I switched it off but still not as fast as it used to be

It didn't slow down for me, but thanks Prawneatsprawn for telling me how to turn of that chat bar.

It's only slow on certain things, like I can't search members because it just takes like a whole 5 minutes for the loading bar to get to the end, then says not responding.

Yeah, it was alright for a day or two and then I had a hard time with it. It slowed me down to a crawl and I did away with it. It's still a little slow, but i'm sure they will fix that as well.

Once again the site lagged loads just a few minutes ago and now a speed vote chess game will have to be set back another hour because the admin couldn't accept the game.
